GAITHERSBURG, Md. — Former U.S. Rep. David Trone added his name to the growing list of endorsements incumbent Gaithersburg City Council Member Jim McNulty has compiled for his 2025 reelection bid.
"I'm proud to endorse Jim McNulty for re-election to the Gaithersburg City Council," Trone said. "Over the past four years, Jim has proven himself to be a thoughtful, principled leader and a true consensus builder. He earns the trust of those around him by listening with empathy, leading with integrity, and always putting Gaithersburg residents first. Jim gets results because he brings people together to find common-sense solutions to our challenges. Our community is stronger because of his service, and I'm confident he will continue to make a meaningful difference in the years ahead."
McNulty was elected to his first term on the Gaithersburg City Council in 2021. In addition to the former congressman, McNulty has support from more than two dozen current and former elected officials at the state, county and local levels, including Gaithersburg Mayor Jud Ashman; Montgomery County Council members Marilyn Balcombe, Andrew Friedson, Evan Glass, Sidney Katz, and Dawn Luedtke; and state Sens. Nancy King (District 39), and Cheryl Kagan (District 17).
"I'm incredibly grateful for Congressman Trone's endorsement and his continued friendship," McNulty said. "During his time representing our district, David was a champion for important economic development initiatives here in our City, from our life sciences corridor to the Lakeforest redevelopment. He also led the fight for increased mental health resources and substance abuse treatment—work that resonates deeply with me and remains a cornerstone of my public service. David delivered real results for our residents, and I'm committed to building on that foundation to create a stronger, more prosperous Gaithersburg for all our families."
